Drama 157 - Undergraduate Lighting Composition: Fall '21

Happy last blog post and happy finals week to everyone! This week my post is on depth since accidentally did the obsession one during week 8.  Anyways, we have been having very foggy mornings and nights here in Ora nge County for the past few weeks and it throws me off every time I see it. I have been taking some cool, but blurry, pictures of the fog that makes everything look spooky.  As I was walking to the Mesa parking structure, I noticed how heavy the fog looked and how everything that was at a distance looked deeper than before especially because objects that were not within 10-15 feet looked blurry or blended in the dark. In the first picture, you can see the intense beams of light from the walkway lamps illuminating everything on the path. You can barely make anything out past another bright beam in the background. Last blog for Lighting Class. I have to say that I have learned a lot about what a lighting designer goes through to be creative, come up with concepts that fit the world of the director and colors, colors, angles and colors. I was talking with Juliette that I have learned how my blocking can affect lighting ie positions and angles along with the use of colors to stimulate some emotion. It has been a fun class to challenge myself in. Now we go on to OBSESSION: The photo above is from my production of In The Heights. I am mad obsessed with this show. It fulfills what I have longed for since I have been part of theatre... to see someone that looks like me on stage or a story that is like my own.
