Week 9- Up in the Clouds- Angela C

This Thanksgiving I had to fly to Texas to be with my hubby's family. It really was just me and the boys this year. My father in law was so sweet and said since its just us this year he wanted to do all the cooking so I can rest from my tough job at grad school.... if he only knew.

I wanted to focus on this picture I took from my window sear on house left of the 787 aircraft (this is my hubby's favorite because it is so big). Oddly, this was the beginning of sunset as I took off from LAX. The sun was bright and the clouds looked like you could sleep on them. The interesting part of this image is the colors and textures I am seeing. I am seeing a light baby blue with white color in the sky. I also see a bright yellow with amber and a hint of red in the sun. While the clouds are giving me vibes of white, purple with very slight hints of gray.

Now relating this image to the stage, I can use all the colors I discussed and play with brush strokes to show the clouds and angles to display where the sun is coming from and maybe the cyc could be the sky. Then, I would bring all of these colors and focus on one part of the stage so that we all get the feeling we are flying high in the sky. I will give the sense of freedom and hope just by looking out the window.

  1. I have grown to love your posts as each one you get more detailed about lighting :). Nice job! I encourage you to look closer at the "gray" - as gray light does not exists, you are really seeing versions of lavender :)
