Week 4 - Lucas - Textures on the harsh ground

I really enjoy the harshness of this picture. Just looking at it, with the rough texture of the rocks and gravel paired with the brightness of the sun, makes me start to sweat. I love the solitary figure of the pine cone. It reminds me of a character alone in the desert. I am attracted to all the shifting of textures throughout the photo. In the bottom left there are larger rocks and pebbles, but as we move up through to the top of the picture it seems to get finer, more like a rough sand. There are even a few smooth patches from larger stones embedded in the ground. Overall I'm attracted to the complexity of the landscape in the photo. From the shifting textures to the subtilty in color, I find that each time I study it I find something new.

  2. Your text is wonderful. I love the detail that you find from such a seemingly simple photo. Nice attention to the texture.
