Week #3 - Jackie - Sea Life's Beauty

This past Thursday night, I was felt like I was on top of the world. My initial plot plates for Audio Theatre were printed and it was so cool to see everything right before my eyes, especially my title block. After I left school I ended up going on a spontaneous late night drive with one of my friends because why the heck not? We ended up taking a detour and walking around this place called Treasure Island in Laguna Beach. There was a glaring beam of light coming in from the side that illuminated the sharp and gnarled, rocks on the shore as well as gave light to the violent dark sea that loved to crash and envelop said rocks. The traffic light from across the street spilled onto the glistening sand creating a distorted watercolor like effect on the ground. The air was very misty which created a makeshift haze which allowed you to see the lights better which was super intriguing. Every once and a while you could see this ray of light change from an eye-catching red to a dazzling emerald green. This traffic light gave the effect of a backlight and added such interesting accents to the semi-intentional lighting design I saw that night. The stark white beam reminded me of the angles as well as intensities used in Film Noir, while the traffic light reminded me of the green light from The Great Gatsby although that might be too dramatic of a metaphor for this case. Everything looked unreal, in a good way, I felt alive and I was taken aback at how beautiful everything looked. Like I said in my previous post life can be so theatrical.
